Playing our games
Purpose
Our games are designed to support learning about AI, on the vulnerabilities and brittleness of technology and its overall security. As AI is ever more present in all the solutions we use, these are skills we want everyone to have. We further aim to help users develop ethical hacking and penetration testing skills specifically for AI systems, to be used in lawful ways of course.
Ethical Use
- We do not condone or support any illegal activities. All hacking and testing must be ethical and agreed-upon within the scope of such activities.
- The hacking of our apps should be done within the guidelines given as breaking the apps will remove the possibility of others learning the same skills.
- Users are encouraged to explore and test the AI’s responses using only the methods described in each game.
Scope of Testing
- Currently, our games are designed to be tested using prompts and natural language only.
- Do not attempt to hack the applications, back-end, or any infrastructure outside of the game’s intended scope.
Reporting Vulnerabilities
- If you discover any vulnerabilities in the games or our platform, apart from the normal game play ones, please report them to contact@helheimlabs.ai.
- We welcome information on how you successfully hacked the games—share your findings with us at the same email address. We’ll also setup a social media where these can be shared.
Data Privacy
- Do not include any personal information in your prompts.
- Review our Data Handling Policy to understand how your inputs and interactions are processed and stored.
Questions or Concerns?
If you have any questions or need further clarification, feel free to reach out to contact@helheimlabs.ai.

Creating content for HackAI
1. How to Contribute
We actively welcome ideas, feedback, and collaboration on game development (contact@hackai.quest), including but not limited to:
- Suggesting new game concepts.
- Designing levels or challenges.
- Improving existing games
- Co-creating or creating new games
- Testing our games in our soft launches
2. Credit and Recognition
- What you create or code is yours. What we create is ours.
- We freely give credit to any and all contributors on HackAI.
- We aim to agree with every collaborator the way they wish to be credited for their contribution.
- For instance we can showcase your contributions on our website and other linked platforms. We will add your name and description to our list of collaborators should you so choose. Check these at our Acknowledgements-page.
3. Ownership and Rights
- If we co-create a game, each party retains the rights to the code or content they contributed.
- If Satu or others in the HackAI core team participate in the creation, we aim to have the games hosted on hackai.quest.
- If you create a game yourself and want it hosted on HackAI, contact us and lets talk.
- While we do not aim to make a profit, running the game and hosting them locally does incur costs so games on hackai.quest may be used in for instance workshops and similar things to bring in revenue to keep the lights on and the blinky lights happily blinking. This can sometimes be done under the brand Helheim Labs if not otherwise agreed upon with the creators.
- Any additional terms (e.g., distribution, modifications, or commercial use) of games made together will be discussed and agreed upon separately.
4. How to Get Involved
- Reach out to us with your ideas or proposals at contact@hackai.quest
- We’ll discuss the scope, collaboration terms, and next steps together.
- If we do not reach an agreement on collaboration terms, we will not use any of the info you shared with us during the process.

Data Handling at HackAI
We have two different ways of handling data.
- Creator & Collaborator information: We save and share information on the individuals creating levels and games, or contributing ideas when and only when the individuals have accepted this.
- Game play data: Check below for description of game data collection and processing
What Data We Collect: When you interact with our games, we save:
- The text inputs you provide.
- The AI model used, the task the AI is given, and the AI’s outputs.
- A random, anonymous session ID to track multi-turn conversations.
What We Do Not Collect: We do not collect or store any personal data about you. We explicitly ask users not to include personal information in their prompts, as all inputs are saved.
Why We Collect This Data:
- Research: We use the data to study how AI systems can be protected and to evaluate the effectiveness of safeguards.
- Open Datasets & Frameworks: Our goal is to create open datasets and processes to advance AI security and testing. This helps the broader community improve AI safety.
How We Use the Data:
- The data is used internally for research and may be shared with collaborating universities or researchers, under separate guidelines.
- We create games that we openly share and we aim to share data and resources to security test AI
- We do not use the data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purposes.
Your Privacy
- All data is stored anonymously and securely.
- Session IDs are random and cannot be linked back to you or your identity.
Your Responsibility
- Please avoid entering personal or sensitive information in your prompts, as it will be saved.
Questions? If you have any questions about our data practices, feel free to reach out at contact@hackai.quest.

Collaboration Guidelines for Universities and Educational Institutions
1. Purpose of Collaboration
We collaborate with universities and educational institutions to advance AI security and testing and we see gamified learning as efficient mode of learning and the collaboration increasing the joint goal of safer and more secure AI for all of us. Our games are designed to be used as educational tools and research resources, with the shared goal of improving AI safety and robustness.
2. Collaboration with Teaching
Permission and Support:
- Our games can be used in a training context for an non-profit educational organization. For-profit organisations can contact helheimlabs.ai on using our games for their needs. Check our guidelines for collaboration with for profit organisations
- Educational institutions need to contact us before using our games in teaching. This way it is mutual, agreed upon, and we can support the teaching to the best of our ability.
- We currently provide access to the games on a best-effort basis, without a formal Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Games are hosted locally, so we need advance notice if a large group of concurrent users is expected. So contacting us allows us to ensure the games are available and use is supported during the teaching.
- We also do need testers of our games and already have some universities that welcome us to host hackathons with their students to have them test our games before they are launched to the web.
Our Role:
- We prefer to actively participate in the collaboration, offering support and guidance to ensure the games are used effectively and educational goals are met.
- We like to receive learning diaries and other forms of input on how our games were received.
3. Collaboration for Research
Data Sharing:
- We are open to discussing the sharing of anonymized game interaction data for research purposes.
- Data will not be provided under exclusive rights; it may be shared with multiple research partners.
- We can share the data also with students working on their thesis in Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences.
Requirements for Research Use:
- Attribution: We must be named as the source of the data in all research outputs and publications.
- Collaboration on Publications: We prefer to collaborate on articles and papers derived from our data. This includes participation in the writing and reviewing process, though we do not seek primary authorship and are happy to be named last. This is not a hard line, but a goal to help us reach a wider audience and support the goals we have.
- Sharing Results: Researchers must keep us informed about the progress and results of their work. We will not share any information of the progress or results without explicit agreement with the researcher.
Agreement:
- All research collaborations will be discussed and agreed upon separately, with clear terms for data use, attribution, and publication. This agreement will be done in writing.
4. General Expectations
- Transparency: Researchers will maintain open communication about the use of our data and the outcomes of the research.
- Ethical Use: Data must be used in accordance with ethical guidelines and privacy standards.

Collaboration Guidelines for companies and for profit organisations
We host these games currently with 2x RTX 3090 GPUs in a home setting. We finance this activity with grants and Satu putting in her time and money into this. This started with Satu having a goal and it has expanded to include more people but still this is a very low budget operation we are seeking to finance to allow us to reach people and help people learn essential skills in a world where AI solutions are everywhere.
If you want to use these games as a for profit organisation, you have a few options.
- License a game: send email to contact@helheimlabs.ai to discuss licensing the game. We aim to have them nicely in a docker container so you can run it against your own backend and none of the usage data will come our way.
- Sponsor us: We do accept corporate sponsorship. If you choose to sponsor us, we will add your logo to our sponsor list and give you our heartfelt thanks for assisting us to reach more people. We use all of the money for hardware, hosting, electricity, and other such requirements to run this operation. For sponsorship, please send email to contact@hackai.quest to discuss this further.
